Take a parody of a popular Top 40 song (LMFAO’s “I’m Sexy And I Know It”), tweak the lyrics, put the music to video, and you have a fun multimedia memory to share with your friends. Add the horsepower of social media and you could have a worldwide hit.

On June 25, Kansas State University student Greg Peterson and his younger brothers Nathan and Kendal (a.k.a. The Peterson Farm Bros) posted their video “I’m Farming And I Grow It” to YouTube. The video, intended to entertain Facebook friends about life on their family farm in Kansas, has reached all around the globe. The parody music video promoting agriculture has given the industry an unexpected boost in profile and appreciation. Farm groups, as well as mainstream media outlets, have shared the video, contributing to its popularity.

Since the video was posted, it has had more than 5 million views.
