FarMore Technology To Be Syngenta Standard

Seed treatment to be applied to squash, melon and open field cucumber seed.

August 15, 2012

Effective in August, Syngenta began enhancing its cucurbit seed offerings with a standard on-seed application of FarMore Technology. All Syngenta squash, melon, and open field cucumber seed sold in North America is being treated with FarMore Technology, the first comprehensive combination of separately-registered seed protection products, and proprietary application technologies.

Cucurbit seed, including melon and squash varieties, receive a FarMore F300 treatment with FarMore FI400 available as an optional upgrade. Syngenta cucumber seed varieties, such as Diomede and Constable, are treated with FarMore FI400, a combination of three different but complementary fungicides providing early-season protection from diseases like Pythium, Fusarium, and Rhizoctonia. The active ingredients mefenoxam (Apron XLfungicide), fludioxonil (Maxim 4FS fungicide), and azoxystrobin (Dynasty fungicide) combined with an insecticide component deliver a full range of early-season disease and pest protection.

“By standardizing the treatment of Syngenta cucurbit seed with FarMore Technology, we are able to add value to our deep pools of industry-leading genetics while helping growers ensure the success and stability of their crops and business,” said Mark Jirak, Syngenta portfolio manager.

FarMore Technology delivers early-season protection against certain diseases and insects, eliminates or reduces the chance of viruses being transmitted by certain pests, and improves the yield and quality potential of small-seeded vegetable crops. FarMore solutions offer excellent compatibility with existing insect protection strategies in crops and are compatible with most Integrated Pest Management programs.
