Crisafulli Citrus Matriarch Passes Away At 98

A true Indian River citrus pioneer, Josephine Crisafulli Ramshur, has passed away.

Josephine Crisafulli RamshurAccording to an obituary posted by Viera, FL-based Beckman-Williamson Funeral Homes & Crematory, Josephine’s roots trace back to Northeast Ohio before her parents Carmelo and Domenica Crisafulli moved the family to Merritt Island, FL, in 1920.

Josephine grew up with the Indian River citrus industry working with her parents, two brothers, and sister planting mostly citrus and other crops on North Merritt Island.

In addition to her agriculture accomplishments, the obituary highlights Josephine and her late husband Lloyd Ramshur worked together to help develop the Housing Authority of Brevard County.

Always drawn to the outdoors, Josephine continued to plant and care for citrus, avocado, and mango trees well after her retirement.
