Florida Citrus Official Calls It Quits

Bob Norberg, deputy executive director of research and operations for the Florida Department of Citrus (FDOC), recently resigned. According to reports, an apparent dispute with FDOC Executive Director Doug Ackerman over management authority and pay raises for employees under his supervision led to the sudden decision.
Norberg had been with FDOC since July 2004. He assumed the deputy executive director post in 2006. His duties included being directly responsible for the collection and evaluation of economic and market data that is used by the Department and the citrus industry. He was among several possible candidates to take over the Department’s top spot following the resignation of then FDOC chief Ken Keck in July 2011.
Norberg’s resumé includes more than 20 years of experience in the Florida citrus industry serving in past roles such as senior vice president at Pasco Beverage Co. responsible for fruit and juice procurement, risk management, purchasing, inventory, and production planning.
No details have been released about FDOC’s intentions on filling the position.
