Platinum 75SG Insecticide Receives Registration For Florida Citrus

Syngenta Crop Protection recently announced the registration of Platinum 75SG insecticide for use on all citrus. Platinum 75SG contains thiamethoxam, a second generation neonicotinoid insecticide known to provide long-lasting control of both Asian citrus psyllid and citrus leafminers, two insects that can contribute to the spread of citrus greening and citrus canker.

“Platinum 75SG is a strong addition to the tools a citrus grower already uses to control damaging citrus pests, especially Asian citrus psyllid and citrus leafminer,” said John Koenig, Syngenta insecticide brand manager. “It can be easily integrated as the soil-applied option into most insect control programs.”
As a soil-applied option that can be applied as a split or seasonal application, Platinum 75SG offers citrus growers timing flexibility to effectively control pests. Applied as a drench application or as a banded treatment, Platinum 75SG rapidly moves systemically throughout the plant to provide long residual control – up to 60 days depending on the application rate. This registration comes just months after Syngenta introduced Actara insecticide, a foliar-applied thiamethoxam option, to the citrus industry.
“Introducing Platinum 75SG just a few months after debuting Actara is something Syngenta is very proud of,” said Koenig. “It demonstrates our deep dedication to the citrus industry and our ability to continually adapt to its ever-evolving needs.”
State registrations or specific crop and/or pest uses may still be pending in certain states. Please check with your state regulatory agency to determine registration status.
