NBC Nightly News Puts Citrus Greening In Primetime Spotlight

The pest and disease crisis impacting Florida citrus is not only making local headlines, but also it’s enough to crack the top stories list for national news, too. Last week, NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams aired a report titled “Farmers Fight Losing Battle Against Citrus Greening.”

Interviews during the 2-plus-minute segment included: Florida Citrus Mutual executive VP/CEO Mike Sparks; Billy Teal, production manager for Heller Brothers; and David Hall, researcher at the USDA lab in Ft. Pierce.
