Who Will Be Crowned Miss Florida Citrus 2016?

Opportunity is knocking for young women seeking to further their education and advocate on behalf of the Florida citrus industry as registration opens to compete in the 2016 Miss Florida Citrus Pageant, slated for March 19 at the Theatre Winter Haven.

According to Brenda Eubanks Burnette, Florida Citrus Hall of Fame Executive Director and past Florida Citrus Queen, this event is a Miss America preliminary pageant, so contestants must have a talent.

The pageant is open to all women between the ages of 17-24 that either reside in Florida or attend school in Florida (for at least the past six months).

The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship and expenses paid to compete in the Miss Florida contest in Lakeland June 28-July 3 where they could move on to represent the Sunshine State in the Miss America Pageant.

In addition, the first runner-up will be crowned Miss Imperial Polk County and also will receive a $1,000 scholarship and expenses paid to compete in the Miss Florida contest.

2015 marked a big comeback for the Miss Florida Citrus Pageant, which hadn’t been held in more than a decade. Summer Foley of Ormond Beach earned the crown and joined the long list of pageant winners, which date back to the 1920s.
