Food IT: Solution Harvest connects food and ag professionals with the information technology sector.

Silicon Valley is hot on agriculture, and an upcoming event in California will bring together the food and tech industries to explore how information technology can address challenges in farming.

Food IT: Solution Harvest, a one-day conference to be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 in Mountain View, CA, will attract “action-oriented entrepreneurs, industry players, investors, and representatives from leading global food and ag innovation hubs,” according to The Mixing Bowl, organizers of the event.

The conference, to be staged at the Computer History Museum, will include three main activities:

  • A collaborative exercise that will the address real-world challenges facing food producers and the potential for information technology to provide “leverageable” solutions. This session will be conducted in collaboration with event programming partners Forbes magazine and the FEED Collaborative of Stanford d.School (Institute of Design).
  • A business-pitch competition among a select group of start-up companies in the food and ag sectors.
  • A hands-on “Innovation Marketplace” showcasing innovative products and services in the food and ag sectors.
