With the release of the FDA letter to the U.S. cantaloupe industry, growers must be ready, as the agency is initiating inspections of cantaloupe packinghouses in the U.S. and will be performing microbial sampling.
During the webinar, which is sponsored by the Eastern Cantaloupe Growers Association and the Georgia Fruit & Vegetable Growers Association (GFVGA), Michelle Danyluk from the University of Florida will provide insight into what the FDA inspections will focus on and provide growers with tips on ways to be prepared. The webinar will be held May 9 from 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
The discussion will include:
• What happened in previous cantaloupe outbreaks?
• What is FDA most likely looking for?
• Where will FDA likely inspect?
• How and where will they likely take microbial samples?
