As the search to identify a new leader for the U.S. Apple Association (USApple) continues, selection committee members are optimistic about the field of candidates and overall state of the Association. Outgoing Chair Bill Dodd provided an update to the USApple Board and industry leaders assembled in Chicago for the USApple Board meeting on August 24.

USApple vice president of public affairs, Diane Kurrle, will temporarily serve as interim president and CEO until the search committee completes its work. “Kurrle is well prepared to lead the association through this transition process,” said USApple Chairman Chris Britton of the 10-year industry veteran. Kurrle noted, “I am assuming this position at a time when the Association is in excellent shape. We have a strong and committed staff and will continue to work together on behalf of the industry.”

USApple’s mission is to advocate for American apple growers and their industry partners on national issues in order to promote the profitable production and marketing of apples and apple products. The association leaders and staff are committed to accomplishing this mission as the search continues for a new president and CEO.
