Ohio Winery Reports Total Loss Of Winegrape Crop

Nick Ferrante, of Ferrante Winery in Geneva, OH, tells NewsChannel5 that his winery has lost all of the crop for 2014. Ferrante estimates the loss at $3 to $4 million.

He also tells the news station that he expects significant portions of the vines are also damaged, but he won’t know until June. Ferrante estimates that it could be as high as 10% of his vines.

NewsChannel5 Meteorologist Mark Johnson says the vines were likely subjected to four different sub-zero temperature weather periods this year, starting in January.
