Beware Of Fruit Rots During Apple Harvest

According to a recent crop protection update from Penn State University Extension, conditions have been conducive for fruit rots this month with frequent rain and stretches of warm weather.

Observations in the orchard include incidences of bitter and black rot are showing up on fruit in untreated checks. In addition, several samples of leaves exhibiting Glomerella leaf spot (GLS; the leaf stage of bitter rot) have landed in the lab for identification.
