In the deal, which was finalized in October, the Brown family will continue to manage the Oregon operation of more than 1,000 acres of apples and 115 winegrapes. The Brown family’s Blue Mountain Cider was not a part of this sale.

“Nobody lost their jobs. We’re moving along just like we did before,” Ron Brown told the East Oregonian. “You have to be a certain size anymore to compete with all the regulations that come down on smaller companies,” he said.

Brown told the newspaper this deal will allow for continued growth and planting. The Browns will plant 60 more acres of apples and 10 more acres of grapes.
