Year Of The Apple Art Contest Winner Features ‘Granny Smith’

full-size-waef-winner-estebangaribay-grannysmith2016 Sunnyside High School graduate Esteban Garibay was the Grand Prize winner in the 21st Annual Washington Apple Education Foundation (WAEF) Year of the Apple Art Contest sponsored by Dow AgroSciences.

Garibay received a check in the amount of $1,000 for his efforts and will see his artwork published on the 2017 Dow AgroSciences calendar poster.

Second place winner Cyrille Villas from Richland High School won $500, and Madison Colvin from Cascade High School was awarded third place and $250 for her entry.

The art contest is open to all high school students in the following central Washington counties: Adams, Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan, Grant, Benton, Franklin, Kittitas, Yakima, and Walla Walla. This year 130 students submitted entries into the contest. Students may submit entries in a variety of traditional artistic mediums.

Entry forms and contest rules for the 2017 Year of the Apple art contest will be available Dec. 1st on the WAEF event website. The deadline for students to submit entries is June 1, 2017.
