Retaliatory Tariffs to Take Bite Out of American Produce

Following the U.S. government’s announcement of a 25% tariff on steel and 10% on aluminum from the EU, Canada, and Mexico, retaliatory tariffs from the countries affected have been announced.

While Canada has announced additional tariffs on American orange juice, fungicides, insecticides, cucumbers, and other American products, and the EU has announced additional tariffs on imported products, Mexico has announced immediate retaliatory tariffs on U.S. products including apples, grapes, and blueberries. The EU has also announced it may levy additional tariffs among American products and produce, including cranberries, cranberry juice, and orange juice.

Meanwhile, India also has threatened tariffs on cashews and apples in retaliation for the U.S.’s announcement of 25% tariffs on steel imports and 10% on aluminum imports as Reuters reports.
