Video Offers Tips To Reduce Apple Scab

A team of University of Massachusetts (UMass) tree fruit researchers recently put together a video with tips on fall urea applications as a way to reduce the risk of apple scab risk. A fall urea spray can reduce overwintering apple scab by 50%, thus reducing the risk for apple scab the following season, according to UMAss plant pathologisy Daniel Cooley. It is most advised where scab was more prevalent than desired in the current growing season. Along with Cooley, the video was also produced by Extension educator Jon Clements and IPM field leader Arthur Tuttle.
