According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, “agricultural water use has helped meet rapidly rising demand for food, and has contributed to the growth of farm profitability and poverty reduction as well as to regional rural development and environmental protection.”
Will the current irrigation technologies be enough to meet future demand? How is the irrigation industry balancing the water-use needs for humans, agriculture, and the environment?
The five-part series will address these questions and more as the Irrigation Association brings together the top experts in the agricultural irrigation field to discuss the current and future challenges and opportunities facing the irrigation industry.
The first webinar is slated for Wednesday, June 12, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and is called Exploring the World of Conservation Partnerships.
This installment will discuss agriculture-conservation partnerships through the eyes of the farmer/rancher, the conservation group, and the irrigation consultant. The webinar will seek to answer the questions: “Are conservation practices a sound financial decision for the farmer?” and “Why is water management a large focus in conservation partnerships?”
