The series of “Traceability Boot Camps” launches March 25 in Salinas, CA, and continues into six other key produce-growing regions including Oxnard, Calif. (March 31), Fresno, Calif. (April 6), Santa Maria, Calif. (April 14), Yuma, Ariz. (April 19), Brawley, Calif. (April 20) and Indio, Calif. (April 21).

“We are not endorsing a particular supplier nor are we presenting a viewpoint as to what growers and shippers should do,” said Western Growers Senior Vice President of Science and Technology Hank Giclas. “There are a lot of questions surrounding traceability, and these seminars have been designed to answer many of those questions, putting the grower-shipper community in the position of making informed decisions about which path they should go down.”

“These unique and highly interactive workshops, which will showcase practical information to technical and non-technical managers, are being offered to industry professionals from Western Growers member companies and non-member companies,” said Cristian Barcan, cofounder and partner in the Traceability Institute. “By attending, individuals will learn the fundamental components of a traceability program, how to maximize their return on investment, as well as key information on traceability programs like the Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI).”

Through a sponsorship by BASF Corp., discounted registration is available for the Traceability Boot Camps. Registration information is available online from Western Growers at www.wga.com/traceability.
