Dr. Dak Seal, a University of Florida entomologist, describes the importance of controlling whitefly, flower thrips and other pests that transmit disease to tomato crops. When protected from damaging pests, plants are healthier and better able to withstand stress, resulting in improved yield and quality at harvest.
In his field trials, Dr. Dak Seal tested DuPont™ Verimark® and Exirel® and found excellent control of silverleaf whitefly and flower thrips, which helped suppress insect-transmitted viruses. By protecting plants from damaging insects, Verimark® and Exirel® helped produce stronger, more resilient tomato plants that had earlier flowering and fruit set. The healthier plants delivered higher-quality, bigger yields at harvest.
