American Vegetable Growers’ Grower Achievement Award is sponsored by Syngenta in cooperation with United Fresh Produce Association. The award honors growers who have taken production agriculture to new levels of innovation in food quality and safety, marketing, technological advancement, and the spirit of achievement.

This year, the award was presented to Alstede Farms’ owner Kurt Alstede by Jeff Pomeroy, head of key account management for Syngenta Vegetable Seeds in North America. Alstede Farms is a 500-acre vegetable, fruit and flower farm. The operation has a farm market, supplies 25 area farmers markets, and this year started a Community Supported Agriculture program — just to name a few of his marketing ventures.
