FDA Releases Draft Food Safety Guidance

FDA recently made public draft, commodity-specific food safety guidance for tomatoes, melons, and leafy greens. The guidance is intended to cover the entire supply chain from production and harvest to processing, as well as distribution and user handling at retail or foodservice.

The new guidance documents also incorporate general lessons learned since release of FDA’s 1998 Guide to Minimize Microbial Food Safety Hazards for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables.
