Nutrient Update 2010

Sysstem-Ready zinc/manganese micronutrient is the latest addition to the Agro-K Corporation line of Sysstem foliar phosphite fertilizers. Sysstem-Ready uses a patent-pending Agro-K technology linking nutrients to a phosphite mobility ion for rapid absorption and translocation within the plant when and where the nutrients are most needed.

Biagro Western has secured exclusive international rights to market a new product, Take-Off, a metabolic plant stimulant. The product will allow growers to increase crop carbon fixation and thereby increase nitrate uptake and nitrogen use efficiency. Take-Off was developed at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. The new product helps to speed plants to maturity, allowing the plants to more efficiently assimilate nitrogen by coordinating the nitrogen uptake and photosynthesis processes. Field tests reportedly show that Take-Off reduced nitrogen inputs by 25% to 35%. Take-Off is said to enhance plant yield without the use of growth hormones by enhancing the levels of growth materials already in the plant.

The plant growth regulator Sumagic (uniconazole) is registered for use as a foliar spray on fruiting vegetable transplants. From Valent Professional Products, the product can be used on tomato, pepper, and eggplant transplants in all states except California and New York.

Westbridge Agricultural Products added Organic BioLink Iron Fertilizer 6% Fe to its organic product line. The product consists of complexed amino acids, which offer improved availability and uptake by plants. Organic BioLink Iron Fertilizer 6% Fe can be applied through all types of chemigation, ground, and aerial application equipment.
