Biagro Western has secured exclusive international rights to market a new product, Take-Off, a metabolic plant stimulant. The product will allow growers to increase crop carbon fixation and thereby increase nitrate uptake and nitrogen use efficiency. Take-Off was developed at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. The new product helps to speed plants to maturity, allowing the plants to more efficiently assimilate nitrogen by coordinating the nitrogen uptake and photosynthesis processes. Field tests reportedly show that Take-Off reduced nitrogen inputs by 25% to 35%. Take-Off is said to enhance plant yield without the use of growth hormones by enhancing the levels of growth materials already in the plant.

The plant growth regulator Sumagic (uniconazole) is registered for use as a foliar spray on fruiting vegetable transplants. From Valent Professional Products, the product can be used on tomato, pepper, and eggplant transplants in all states except California and New York.
