Stoller Products Receive Organic Approval

Several products from StollerUSA are now approved for organic production. These updated products are certified by EPA and the Organic Materials Review Institute.

One of the 12 products in Stoller’s organic crop solutions line is Top Cop with Sulfur, a fungicide/bactericide. This product oxidizes on the crop leaf and the copper is promptly soluble. According to Stoller, the fast action of Top Cop means less copper is needed to control the pathogens. Without the buildup of copper on the older leaves of the plant, the risk of phytotoxicity may be reduced.

The company says it will continue to increase availability as products receive organic approval.

U.S. Organic Product Sales Grew In 2009

U.S. sales of organic products continued to grow during 2009 despite the distressed state of the economy, according to the Organic Trade Association’s (OTA) 2010 Organic Industry Survey.

“While total U.S. food sales grew by only 1.6% in 2009, organic food sales grew by 5.1%,” says Christine Bushway, OTA’s executive director.

Experiencing the most growth, organ-ic fruits and vegetables, which represent 38% of total organic food sales, reached nearly $9.5 billion in sales in 2009. Organic fruits and vegetables now represent 11.4% of all U.S. fruit and vegetable sales, according to OTA.

Organic Weed Killer

The bio-herbicide Pharm Solutions Organic Weed Killer recently received USDA National Organic Program Certification. This herbicide from
Pharm Solutions, Inc. is said to be the only herbicide to carry the USDA Organic Seal.

A non-selective, burn down organic weed and grass killer, the product contains organic oils and organic surfac-tants. According to the company, results can be seen within a matter of hour after application.

The Pharm Solutions line of patent-pending certified organic pesticides has been available since 2006.
