Fuerte (Illinois Foundation Seeds Inc., Harris Seeds)
‘Fuerte F1’ offers high yields of medium-orange, blunt-tipped, cylindrical roots, with some shoulder. This excellent Nantes carrot is known for its nice uniform shape, strong tops and good flavor. Matures in 70 days.
Superior quality roots that are smooth, straight, sweet, and tapered to a blunt tip. The root exterior is dark orange, with an indistinct core. It is strong, erect, with dark green foliage, and a small attachment. ‘Jacinto’ is excellent for fresh market cello and processing slicer. A mid-late maturing hybrid variety.
‘Navedo’ is a fresh market late Nantes. A new variety showing good results as a slicer, also good for fresh market bunching. The average root length is 8 to 10 inches.
The 8 inch roots of this orange Continental Nantes resemble an Imperator type. It has strong dark-green tops that bunch well. ‘Negovia F1’ roots are sweet (right out of the field) for fresh market sales; and after storing. The uniform dark-orange, interior color makes them excellent for slicing. Matures in 70 days.
‘Orange Blaze’ has smooth, cylindrical vigorous roots. This Imperator, Cello has the adaptability to muck, mineral and deep peat soils. It’s easy to harvest with yield potential. Matures in 70 days.
‘Rainbow Blend’ consists of five carrot varieties. It creates the perfect bunches of baby carrots. Ideal to showcase in the fresh market. Matures in 70 to 80 days.
Red color develops better in cooler soils and intensifies when cooked. Compact tops with improved bolting tolerance compared to other red carrots. Firm texture works well for cooking and storage.
‘Volcano’ offers a long smooth root that carries to a blunt tip. It has an excellent attachment, for easy pulling. Healthy tops resist frost and roots bury in soil (for reduced green shoulders). It’s capable for long storage, and used for Imperator, cello, fresh market, processing, and storage. A late maturing hybrid.
