Ag Leadership Names Four New Board Members

Karm Bains, Barbara Boswell, Bob Cherenson, and Jim Maxwell have joined the board of directors of the California Agricultural Leadership Foundation (CALF).

“We are pleased to welcome four exceptional and accomplished leaders to the board of directors,” said CALF board chair Loren Booth. “These new board members have a tremendous amount of experience in business, education, community affairs and executive positions that will be extremely valuable for the foundation, leadership program and our future. We are grateful for their commitment to serve Ag Leadership and look forward to their input and fresh perspectives.”

Bains is the owner and operator of Karmdeep S. Bains Farms/Bains Ranches and owner-partner at Coldwell Banker Commercial Valley Brokers. He is a fourth generation California farmer who grows peaches, prunes, walnuts, and almonds. He is a Class 40 graduate of the Ag Leadership Program.

Boswell has extensive experience in education and fundraising. She has taught various grade levels from elementary school to college and served as a school administrator. She previously worked for the Greenwood Company as a senior fundraising consultant and is a life trustee of Claremont McKenna College.

Cherenson is one of eight partners at Turlock-based Lander Veterinary Clinic, which serves large production-oriented food animal operations, particularly dairy farms. He is a Class 29 graduate of the Ag Leadership Program.
