Beware Of Reservation Scams For The Great Lakes Expo

According to Sharri German, trade show manager for the Great Lakes Expo, a company has set up a scam by phone and email to exhibitors from the 2014 convention. The Great Lakes Fruit, Vegetable, and Farm Market Expo is held in December at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, MI.

German says the caller wants to set up hotel reservations for the exhibitors. “They are very sly in making everything look ‘official’ with logos and possible confirmation numbers that are fake,” she says.

German adds that the Great Lakes Expo does not partner with any third-party for reservations. Those interested in participating must call and make their own reservations, mentioning the convention to get the discounted rates that have been negotiated.

For those who have made reservations through a call or email that was received, they need to take action immediately to get their money back.
