NAFDMA Conference Boasts Tours, Workshops And Breakout Sessions

The 29th Annual North American Farmers Direct Marketing Association (NAFDMA) Convention will be held in Kansas City, MO, from Jan. 31 to Feb. 5. This hybrid event boasts bus tours, workshops, and breakout sessions.

All-day bus tours will be held on Feb. 1, Feb. 3, and Feb. 5. Each farm on the tour spot will highlight the agritainment elements of the farms, some take-home tips, and what makes them successful. Sessions and workshops will be held Feb. 2 and Feb. 4.

The bus tours will visit many farms including:

  • Alldredge Orchard, a U-Pick orchard of apples, strawberries, raspberries, and peaches. A hoop house at the facility contains strawberries, tomatoes, raspberries, and sweet cherries.
  • Gieringer’s Orchard, a U-pick orchard and a farm that includes blackberries, tomatoes in high tunnels, and a farmer’s market.
  • Schwinn Produce Farm boasts U-pick options and a farmer’s market.
  • Weston Red Barn Farm produces peaches, other produce, U-pick apples, and pumpkins..

Sessions will cover topics such as employee management; successful recruitment; how to use your iPhone to share your on-the-farm stories; business growth; improving performance; how to incorporate hands-on elements on your farm; and agritourism innovation.
