The potato is produced by Boise, ID-based J.R. Simplot Co. and is one of a new wave of genetically modified crops designed to provide benefits to consumers as well as growers, the New York Times article states.

The nonbruising aspect of the potato is similar to that of genetically engineered nonbrowning apples, which were developed by Okanagan Specialty Fruits. The apples are currently awaiting regulatory approval.

I must be living in Oz, I’ve been an Organic Farmer of Fruit & Vegetables for over 30 yrs. and I can’t BELIEVE ANYONE would want to eat poisoned fruit & vegetables over good hole some NATURALLY GROWN, CHEMICAL FREE FOOD. I’ve always thought that the USDA, EPA, & THE FDA SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN and this proves it

I have to say I am truly shocked. I just had an informal survey of 7 co-workers and we all felt it was it was a revolting thought. I just can’t believe this is happening. What’s next? Bruise-resistant beets? “My carrots are bruised! Throw them out!” People are voting against labeling for GMOs because they believe their government is protecting them, naively.

Folks:
Please remember that humans have been introducing gene from all over the world to all commercial crops for hundreds of years. Go to any seed catelogue and you will find many many commercial varieties of seed that have been created because a human crossed wild plant from very cold climates with wild plants from very warm climates – the 2 plants would not polinate if a human had not manipulated them – the results – were many unfit plants but a very observant human found the 1 in 10,000 that man found useful for food production.

This is how we have enough to eat today. Man continues to search for more productive plants and animals so that we may have great food to eat.

Please catch up with the 21st century.

You have got to be kidding me. How much more unnatural food our we going to introduce into our food chain. WE destroy our soil so nothing can grow in it, we are altering our climate every day so we have vast areas that can no longer sustain crops. And we continue to add these garbage crops to our food sources. Big business continues to grow from our stupidity. We insist on Cheap, fast food. Not nutritional, life sustaining healthy food. We are receiving exactly what we ask for.
