Sakata Seed America donated pumpkins to a Washington zoo for animal feedings, toys for the animals, pumpkin carving, fall displays, and activities for children attending the celebration.

Sakata Seed America employees at the Burlington, WA, office got their hands dirty to harvest 4 bins, or about 10,000 pounds of pumpkins, for the annual Pumpkin Bash at Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle last month

The pumpkins were hand-delivered to the zoo on Friday Oct. 16, for the weekend-long event held on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 24-25. The Woodland Park Zoo’s Annual Pumpkin Bash includes a range of family-friendly activities such as trick-or-treating, pumpkin feedings for the zoo animals, puppet shows, face painting, and other games.

The donated pumpkins were used for animal feedings, toys for the animals, pumpkin carving, fall displays, and activities for children attending the celebration. Sakata plans to continue this tradition at the Woodland Park Zoo next year and believes this to be the beginning of an exciting partnership with the local zoo to provide unused produce to animals and support the community.
