For August, a total of 6.72 inches of rain fell District-wide from Orlando to the Keys, representing 86% of average, or 1.06 inches below average. Most basins in the District were below average.
Lake Okeechobee stood at 14.46 feet NGVD as of Sept. 2, which is 0.24 feet above its historic average for this time of year. The lake received 5.57 inches of direct rainfall, representing 84% of average, or 1.08 inches below average.

The trend jibes with the National Weather Service’s 2014 Wet Season forecast, which called for near to slightly below-average precipitation.
