As HLB spreads across Florida, growers there are considering new systems that include high density plantings and intensely managed fertigation. The intention of these systems are to bring citrus groves into commercial viability more rapidly, therefore frontloading the return on investment for growers planting new blocks. John Strang of Gapway Groves is collaborating with Dr. Arnold Schumann, UF/IFAS, to trial this advanced production approach at a grove near Auburndale, FL.
