Inaugural Florida Pomegranate Association Meeting Recap

The inaugural Florida Pomegranate Association Meeting and Conference was recently held at the Citrus Research and Education Center in Lake Alfred. About 150 people were on hand to learn about the fledgling alternative crop. As a new association, there was optimism among attendees, but also recognition that there’s plenty yet to learn. Of particular interest among attendees was finding the right varieties for Florida’s climate. Dr. Bill Castle, who founded the association, gave his first ever recommendation of four varieties he believes are worthy of consideration.
