Florida Growers Encouraged To Be Graphic For Better Public Relations

You don’t need me to tell you that Florida agriculture has a compelling story to tell. You know just how important agriculture is to our communities and our state. But do your neighbors, your elected leaders, your business contacts? Chances are the answer is, “not really.”

It seems that more often than not in industry meetings the conversation eventually turns to the public’s lack of knowledge and understanding about agriculture. Clearly, it’s important to share our story and show how critical agriculture is to our economy and the health and well-being of American consumers. I would venture to say that it is a never-ending task for those of us who make our living in this industry.

To help you tell the story of Florida agriculture, the Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association is making available some tools to put in your toolbox. We’ve begun rolling out a series of eye-catching infographics that convey at a glance the importance of agriculture to our state. You can find examples of them at FFVA.com/agnumbers.Infographic from FFVA about the economic contribution of agriculture, natural resources, and food industries to the state of Florida

The infographics illustrate five specific topics: the statewide economic impact of Florida agriculture; the statewide economic impact of Florida’s fruit and vegetable industry (see above); Florida’s top fall and winter fruit and vegetable crops; Florida’s ranking in production of fruits and vegetables; and the statewide impact of Florida’s citrus industry.

FFVA encourages you to share this information widely. The graphics can be used in a variety of ways. You can post them on your company’s website. Share them via Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and other social media. If you’re meeting with a local official or a legislator, print them out and leave them behind. Display them on your office bulletin board and use them in presentations to business and community groups.
