Notes on the Survey

We reached out to several university researchers and Extension agents to help us shape the survey. Following their advice, we divided the survey into five sections:

• Demographic data that will allow us to filter results
• Questions for growers supplying the foodservice sector
• Questions for growers supplying supermarkets/warehouse clubs
• Questions for growers with direct-to-consumer sales
• Asking for interview volunteers

We did not ask about labor. Our State of the Vegetable Industry survey will go out in mid-February, and we have a section devoted to labor. We’ll include questions about the pandemic’s impact on labor in that survey.
