Jonastar® C&O Nursery
(Lenz cultivar) An exciting new Jonagold sport discovered as a limb mutation of Rubinstar® in 2004. The fruit colors up to 100% red weeks before proper picking time and is usually a one-pick variety. Jonastar finishes with a nice subtle stripe over a bright-red background and has the same true Jonagold quality, taste, and size. Ripens with other Jonagold selections.
Buckeye® Gala, C&O Nursery
This high color sport starts to color one month earlier than its parent, Imperial Gala. Buckeye® Gala has a 100% deep red color with a stripe. Fruit size, flavor, and quality similar to Imperial. Storage is as good as any other Gala.
Royal Red Honeycrisp®, C&O Nursery
This exciting new color sport of Honeycrisp is catching attention from coast to coast. Royal Red Honeycrisp® is a blush type selection and maintains the crisp, juicy texture of its parent. Beyond the high-color factor, initial tests indicate that it’s improved storage characteristics may be equally important in improving pack-out. Now taking orders for spring deliveries in 2018 and beyond.
September Wonder Fuji, C&O Nursery
September Wonder is the earliest true Fuji on the market. It has a reddish-blush skin color with creamy-white flesh. It has good size even though the apple has six weeks less growing season. USPP#11,193.
Schlect Spur Delicious, C&O Nursery
Schlect Spur Delicious begins to color in June and reaches full blush color by mid-August. No other early red sport colors or matures sooner or has whiter flesh. Tests indicate the Brix level allows for the earliest picking opportunities.
Aztec Fuji®, C&O Nursery
Aztec Fuji is a sweet, juicy apple with crisp texture. Aztec is a blush that originated in New Zealand, and is one of the highest-coloring Fuji sports to date.
