Greenhouse high tunnel (Beiler’s)
“It's a four-season structure with roll-up full-width end walls. This feature allows complete side-to-side tractor access for tillage, bed shaping, soil steaming, plastic mulch laying/transplanting, and tractor seeding. In essence, we use the same field equipment inside the high tunnel that we use in the fields. This is a significant time and money saver. This is unique and the only tunnel that does this that I'm aware of. During cold weather the sides are rolled down. In warm weather, excellent ventilation is achieved with the end walls rolled completely up.”

The couple sells its produce through a farmers’ market, local natural food store, local farm stand, and regional CSA consumer-supported agriculture farms and restaurants in Washington and Baltimore.
I asked about their favorite pieces of farm equipment. Scroll through the slideshow above as David selects and provides thoughts on his five favorite pieces of farm equipment.
