Washington State University Breaks Ground On Wine Science Center

The new WSU Wine Science Center (WSC) will be home to a 39,300-square-foot LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) center. High-tech laboratories will be used for wine sensory analysis, molecular biology, microbiology, and chemistry research.

The $23 million project will house a wine library and classrooms designed to accommodate wine study. Winemaking at the center is expected to increase from 150 to 400 batches a year, with 192 fermentation tanks with precise temperature control and monitoring sensors.
