Vegetable Shipments Harbor Nearly $2 Million In Drugs

Nearly $2 million in drugs were seized in late November in South Texas. According to a Fox News articlethe U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations seized the cocaine and marijuana from two separate produce shipments at the Pharr International Bridge in Pharr, TX.

The first seizure took place on Nov. 28 by the CBP at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge cargo facility following a secondary inspection of a commercial shipment of fresh cucumbers. The CBP officers seized 6,709 small packages of alleged marijuana which weighed more than 2,600 pounds. The estimated street value was more than $525,000, the article states.

The second seizure occurred hours later at the same location after 64 packages of alleged cocaine were found hidden in fresh carrots. The officers reportedly seized nearly 164 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $1,258,000.

2 mil in drugs found on produce truck,,that is the cost of doing business for drug dealers out of Mexico,they have 1000’s of other trucks to put plenty more on and they do. The American Government is deaf,dumb and blind on drugs crossing from Mexico on produce trucks.

Smuggling contraband from Mexico into the U.S. is nothing new, it has been occurring since Texas won it’s independence. At least they are stopping some of the drug flow into the U.S.
