Grower Insights: How To Adjust When Challenges Arise [Video]

Having the ability to adjust on the fly is a must to be a successful produce grower. This past year presented growers with all kinds of challenges that required them to shift gears. Learning what worked and what didn’t sets the path for new and better growth in 2026. This was part of the discussions during the recently held Fruit & Vegetable Grower CONNECT 2025 in Isle of Palms, SC.

Editors from American Fruit GrowerWestern Fruit Grower, and American Vegetable Grower were able to capture candid conversations with several growers at the industry event. Among the influential growers on hand was Brian Campbell, Owner of Brian Campbell Farms in Berwick, PA.

In a word, Campbell described 2025 as interesting. Early flooding forced changes to broccoli planting plans, only to be followed by dry conditions that tested those same fields. Looking ahead to 2026, Campbell is focused on fine-tuning production rather than making wholesale changes.

Watch the Grower Insights video below to learn how Campbell is exploring direct seeding broccoli in the field as a way to manage costs and improve efficiency, emphasizing the importance of equipment, timing, soil management, and more.
