Italian Machinery Show Intends To Strengthen Ties With U.S. Agriculture Industry

The 41st International Agricultural and Gardening Machinery Exhibition (EIMA), a renowned agricultural machinery exposition, is scheduled to take place Nov. 12-16 in Bologna, Italy.

In 2012, 440 U.S. attendees traveled to Italy for this every-other-year show. That number is expected to grow for the upcoming event.

EIMA International will feature more than 1,800 exhibitors from 40 countries, approximately 200,000 visitors, and 40 official foreign delegations.

The U.S. and Italy have had a long tradition of working together in the agricultural mechanization sector. Since the 1970s the Italian Association of Farm Equipment Manufacturers has actively promoted its members through various targeted promotions, which resulted in an increased number of direct investments in the U.S.

According to figures recently released by the U.S. International Trade Commission, total imports of farm machinery increased by 8% in 2013 while imports from Italy experienced an increase of 22% over the same period. Last year, U.S. imports of Italian machinery reached $774 million.

The leading segment of Italian exports of farm machinery to the U.S. is still gear boxes and drivelines for farm implements which, in the first five months of this year, rose by 9% and account for approximately 15% of total exports of Italian farm machinery and parts to the U.S.

To increase their profile, many Italian farm equipment manufacturers now take part in several trade events throughout the U.S. such as the Northwest Agricultural Show, the World Ag Expo, and the AG Connect.
