Florida Sweet Corn Growers Boast New Brand

This spring, sweet corn growers in Florida are introducing Sunshine Sweet Corn, fresh from the Sunshine State. Sunshine Sweet Corn represents premium seed varieties of US Fancy sweet corn of the highest eating quality.

To support the launch of Sunshine Sweet Corn, a strong public relations push targeting traditional and new media is planned to help build consumer awareness and drive demand throughout April and May.

Sunshine Sweet Corn is only available through Florida Sweet Corn Exchange (FSCE) members, and identifies only premium, late-maturing varieties of sweet corn.

“Today, fresh sweet corn is available year-round, with excellent quality and promotable volumes starting in early spring,” said Paul Allen of Pahokee-based R.C. Hatton Farms. “FSCE is planning research to confirm what many retailers already know: Spring sweet corn sales can be a profit center for retailers, and strong spring sales lead to greater summer sales.”

Florida shippers are anticipating a strong start to spring promotional opportunities, and steady movement through Memorial Day.
