New Vegetable Gardening Bulletin From Sylvan Wittwer
Dr. Sylvan Wittwer, though now retired and at age 92, has authored Vegetable Gardening In Moapa And Virgin Valleys, a new bulletin on vegetable gardening. Readers of American Vegetable Grower will remember Dr. Wittwer when he was director of the Michigan Ag Experiment Station and professor of horticulture.
He was a frequent contributor to American Vegetable Grower and is one of a rare breed of outstanding horticulturists who traveled the world and was known for his break-through research and his advice and counsel. He was just as much at home accepting the “Golden Pickle” award of the Michigan Pickle Processors as being made Honorary Professor in the Peoples Republic of China.
He retired to the Moapa Valley in Nevada where he researched and developed an outstanding vegetable garden. His new bulletin has distilled in it all of his experience and research over the years. It describes vegetable growing in a remarkable location producing record-making crops mostly with natural inputs. Click here to view a pdf of the bulletin. Wittwer can be reached at [email protected].
