Watch This! Laser Beams Aim New Light on Weed Control in Farm Fields

Technology on the farm continues to grow by leaps and bounds. What was probably once considered sci-fi is now becoming reality for more growers. So, what is the coolest farm tech you’ve seen so far? Shay Myers, CEO of Owyhee Produce in Parma, ID, thinks it’s laser weeding.

Myers, who has an impressive and growing fan base on social media, recently posted a TikTok about how some vegetables farmers are now deploying lasers in the field to zap weeds right where they stand. The short video shows the precision tech on the hunt for weeds in a field of onions, along with commentary from Myers.

” … The points of light you see are weeds the machine is detecting with AI; and it is burning those weeds off at ground level,” Myers exclaims in the video.
