“Navigating The Farm Labor Maze,” is designed to give growers some guidance on programs like H-2A that can help provide a stable farm workforce, describe programs designed to help farm laborers and their families, as well as helping growers understand some of the rules and requirements that they need to follow when managing their labor force on the farm.

Speakers for the workshop, which takes place on Friday, Nov. 2 at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, will include Mary Jo Dudley, director of Cornell University’s Farmworker Program; Alison DeMaree, farm business management educator with Cornell’s Lake Ontario Fruit Team; Tom Macinski, co-owner of Standing Stone Vineyard; and Parker Filer with the New York State Department of Labor. While this workshop will have a bit of a bent towards grape growing, most of the information will be applicable to growers of other fruit and vegetable crops as well.
