Grower Insights Video: Turning Lessons Into Success on the Farm

With each and every growing season, a vast array of elements can and will arise to challenge farmers. Often, solutions for new growth can result from those challenges. Learning the best ways to cultivate success on the farm was a central part of discussions during the recently held Fruit & Vegetable Grower CONNECT 2025 in Isle of Palms, SC.

Editors from American Fruit Grower, Western Fruit Grower, and American Vegetable Grower were able to capture candid conversations with several growers at the industry event. Among those they were able to speak with was Mike Omeg, Director of Operations at Orchard View Cherries in The Dalles, OR.

Omeg reflects on 2025 as a year full of lessons and opportunities. Looking ahead to 2026, Omeg says he is focused on efficiency and increasing packable yield. Optimizing plant nutrition is a key part of the plan to ensure every acre and every pound of fruit reaches its maximum potential.
