Environmental Stress And Tree Growth Presented At WSU Fruit School

Washington State University (WSU) Fruit School will be held Nov. 17-18 at the Confluence and Technology Center in Wenatchee, WA. The event will be simulcast to Richland and Yakima, Wash., and Hood River, Ore. Simultaneous English-to-Spanish translation will be offered at Washington locations.

Researchers from WSU, Oregon State University, USDA, France and Italy, as well as from other industry leaders will present latest research on apple and pear crop responses to environmental stress and manipulation. Five sessions will cover a variety of topics: basic pome fruit physiology; nutrient and water relations; the manipulation of tree growth; the physiology of stress on trees; and fruit quality.

Pre-registration is required and seats are limited. Cost is $160 and includes lunch.

“This combination of local and international presenters from universities and private industry will focus the meeting on putting science into practice,” Gwen Hoheisel, WSU Extension specialist and event co-organizer said.
