Rohrbach’s Farm of Catawissa, PA last year celebrated their 60th year as a family-owned farm, and the whole gang was there. Rohrbach’s originated in 1955 as a roadside stand with founder Adali Rohrbach and his sons George and Carl.

George, along with his wife Margaret, operated the business through the 1980s. Their son Ronald, and his wife Cathy, then purchased the family business. Ron’s sister, Kay Brecht, is also actively involved.

Ownership is now transitioning to the fourth generation represented by Mark Rohrbach and his wife, Ashley. Mark has pursued innovative farming and oversees the field production.

Dan and Denise (Rohrbach) Bosworth returned to the farm during the summer of 2013 to open Big Dan’s BBQ. They also manage the farm market and events.

There are currently 17 members of the fifth generation. Not everyone lives near the farm, but those who do are beginning to find their niche in the family business, and those who don’t still love coming for a visit.

“Through the years and seasons we have made adaptions to changes in agriculture and the role of local farm,” Denise (Rohrbach) Bosworth recently wrote. “Those adaptions are allowing us to be better stewards of our land than ever before and to be a more thriving and engaging part of our local community.”
