For table grapes:

  • Monitor for vine mealybug on fruit and foliage.
  • Steam-sanitize equipment before moving to uninfested areas if vine mealybug is present.
  • Look for European fruit lecanium scales on leaves in the San Joaquin Valley. Treat if needed just before leaf drop.
  • Continue to mark and remove vines or cordons infested with diseases such as: Eutypa dieback, Pierce’s disease, and bot canker.
  • Continue to monitor for western grapeleaf skeletonizer on early harvested varieties.
  • Sample for nematodes in the Coachella Valley if not already done in spring.
  • Check sticky traps for glassy-winged sharpshooters.
  • Check for grape thrips and red-headed and green sharpshooters

For wine and raisin grapes:

  • Monitor for vine mealybug, and if present treat immediately after harvest. To reduce risk of transferring vine mealybug, do not place winery pomace in the vineyard; compost pomace or cover piles securely with clear plastic.
  • Look for symptoms of Pierce’s disease on vines and flag for removal.
  • Look for European fruit lecanium scales on leaves.
  • If you desire a cover crop, seed after harvest.
