The largest nut grower in the U.S. – according to the most recent data compiled by American Fruit Grower® and Western Fruit Grower® magazines – Wonderful Orchards has 80,000 acres, with 50,000 of those acres dedicated to almonds and pistachios.

Steven Clark, Vice President, Corporate Communications for Wonderful Orchards, said in an email that the decision to remove the almond acreage was made “due to limited water resources and market factors.”

“We do remain committed to our Central Valley farming operations and will continue to look for growth opportunities,” the email continued.

There has been no word yet on what, if anything, might replace the almond acres.
